Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

It is both an honor and a privilege to invite you to the 17th Panhellenic Congress of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, to be held in Athens, Greece, from 28 to 30 May 2027, at the historic Aegli Zappeion.

As we enter a new era of surgical innovation, minimally invasive surgery continues to redefine the standards of patient care. The convergence of advanced laparoscopy, robotic technology, artificial intelligence, digital surgery, enhanced imaging, and data-driven decision-making is shaping a future that only a decade ago seemed beyond imagination. Today, our challenge is not merely to adopt innovation, but to lead it responsibly, critically, and with unwavering commitment to patient safety and surgical excellence.

This Congress aspires to be more than a scientific meeting. It aims to serve as a forum where experience meets innovation, where established expertise engages with emerging ideas, and where the next generation of surgeons is inspired to shape the future of our profession. We envision a dynamic environment that encourages open scientific dialogue, constructive debate, international collaboration, and the dissemination of best practices across all fields of minimally invasive surgery.

The Hellenic Society of Endoscopic Surgery has consistently promoted education, research, and technological advancement, contributing significantly to the development of minimally invasive surgery in Greece and beyond. Building upon this tradition, the 2027 Congress will bring together distinguished international faculty, renowned experts, academic leaders, and young surgeons from across the world to exchange knowledge, challenge existing paradigms, and explore the evolving boundaries of surgical science.

Athens, a city synonymous with knowledge, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence, provides a symbolic setting for this gathering. Here, where scientific thought and intellectual discourse first flourished, we will come together to discuss the future of surgery and our shared responsibility in advancing the standards of care for the patients we serve.

The future of surgery will be defined not only by technological progress, but by our collective ability to educate, collaborate, innovate, and inspire. It is in this spirit that I warmly invite you to join us in Athens for what promises to be an exceptional scientific and professional experience.

On behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committees, I look forward to welcoming you to Greece in May 2027.

Together, let us shape the next chapter of minimally invasive surgery.

With my highest regards,

Dr. Georgios D. Ayiomamitis, MD, MSc(MIS), PhD, FACS, MSc(SurgOnc), FEBS/MIS, MHM, AHC
President, 17th Panhellenic Congress of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery
